W dniach 15-16 grudnia br. na Uniwersytecie Sapienza w Rzymie odbędzie się konferencja "Are the EU Member States Still Sovereign States Under International Law?"
Propozycje wystąpień mogą dotyczyć następujących tematów:
1. EU and Member States in international law making: competition or cooperation?
2. Inter-state international law as an alternative to EU law in the process of European integration.
3. Domaine réservé of the Member States and limits from EU law (e.g.: attribution and withdrawal of citizenship, internal organisation of the judiciary).
4. EU and Member States in the maintenance of international peace and security.
5. The implementation of international law through the action of the EU and the Member States.
6. The outside looking in: the EU and the Member States regarded from an international law perspective.
Zgłoszenia (abstrakt 700-1200 słów wraz z krótką notką biograficzną lub resumé) należy przesyłać do 5 września br.
Planowana jest publikacja pokonferencyjna.

5. Call for papers: 2023 ESIL Research Forum (Tartu, kwiecień 2023 r.)
W dniach 27-28 kwietnia 2023 r. w Tartu odbędzie się 2023 ESIL Research Forum pt. „Regional Developments of International Law in Eastern Europe and Post-Soviet Eurasia”.
Organizatorzy są w szczególności zainteresowani następującymi tematami:
1. The role of regionalism in the context of contemporary international law, especially in the context of Eastern Europe and post-Soviet Eurasia, focussing on the question of whether international law is sometimes understood differently in the European Union and in post-Soviet Eurasia.
2. The historical roots of Russian and Eurasian approaches to international law and human rights and their possible differences from Western Europe – is it about religion, Empire, civilization or culture? Or have such differences been overstated?
3. The history of the period leading up to, during and immediately following World War II as a continued source of contestation in Eastern Europe, and its implications for international law.
4. International legal issues emanating from the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, including the Russian Federation’s succession to the Soviet Union’s permanent seat on the UN Security Council and the border settlement under the Alma-Ata and Minsk agreements.
5. The implications for international law of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine since 2014 and 2022.
6. The implications of Russia’s 2022 exit from the Council of Europe and from under the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights.
7. Integration in post-Soviet Eurasia as neighbouring, overlapping or competing space with the European Union. Regional institutions and instruments in Russian-led Eurasia such as the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization – how to order these organizations analytically in the context of international law and international legal developments, as well as universality and regionalism?
8. The role and contestation of sanctions in contemporary international law and practice.
9. International litigation and lawfare emanating from Eastern Europe and post-Soviet Eurasia, including before the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights, investment tribunals and in international law-related cases in various domestic courts.
10. The implications of regional developments and possible differences of approach in sub-fields of international law in Eastern Europe and Eurasia, especially human rights, international humanitarian law, international criminal law, international economic law, and others.

7. Call for papers: CArGo Conference Transitions in Climate Arctic Governance (Kopenhaga, wrzesień 2022 r.)
16 września br. w Kopenhadze odbędzie się konferencja organizowana przez interdyscyplinarną sieć badawczą Climate Arctic Governance pt. „Transitions in Climate Arctic Governance”.
Cztery główne tematy konferencji to:
· Setting the scene: climate Arctic governance - The first session will provide an overview of the current Arctic governance framework, with a specific view to the changes in Arctic governance that have resulted from Russia’s war in Ukraine.
· Climate vulnerability - Session three will address climate vulnerabilities in the Arctic. The session will discuss how vulnerable systems and communities deal with a changing Arctic, with a focus on indigenous communities and socio-ecological systems and resilience.
· Shipping - Session two will focus on shipping in the Arctic. It will discuss low-carbon shipping in the Arctic in general, the development of new Arctic shipping routes (especially the Northern Sea Route and the Northwest Passage), the usage of new and alternative fuels, new infrastructure developments, as well as the human dimension of Arctic shipping.
· Resources - Session four will cover natural resources in the Arctic, including both marine (fishing, seabed, etc.) and terrestrial resources (oil, gas, sand). Additionally, activities connected to natural resources in the Arctic, such as mining, will be included in this session.
