1. Call for Papers: Workshop on The Political and Legal Theory of International Courts and Tribunals (Oslo, czerwiec 2022 r.)

PluriCourts organizują w dniach 20-21 czerwca 2022 r. warsztaty dotyczące regionalnych i międzynarodowych sądów i trybunałów.

Wystąpienia mogą dotyczyć m.in. następujących kwestii

· According to what conceptual and normative standards can we sort and evaluate legitimacy criticisms against ICs?

· Are there distinct accounts of IC adjudication which are more or less conducive to bolstering the legitimacy of ICs? How unconstrained are international judges in fact?

· To what extent can adjudication be expressed as the exercise of rights and observance of duties? What alternatives are there to right-based accounts?

· Can and should ICs seek to unify behind a common conception of adjudication and judicial review? How does such a conception relate to the task of interpreting and developing international law?

· Can accounts of adjudication and legitimacy shed light on the tendency for legitimacy criticisms to be particularly pronounced in cases regarding positive state duties?

· How do legitimacy criticisms and alternative theories of adjudication relate to the justifications of ICs?

· What measures can ICs take to shield themselves from legitimacy criticisms? Is there any real discretion to be exercised in the choice of methods of interpretation?

· As mechanisms for addressing legitimacy criticisms, how does judicial restraint relate to flexibility in methods of interpretation?

· What are the tensions between the tasks and the judicial tools assigned to ICs, and how should they be resolved?

· How does deep disagreement over values affect criticism of ICs and their methods?

Zgłoszenia (abstrakt do 400 słów) należy przesyłać do 1 stycznia 2022 r.

PluriCourts, na prośbę uczestnika, będą mogły dofinansować część kosztów podróży i zakwaterowania.

2. Call for papers: The Journal of International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict / Humanitäres Völkerrecht

Redakcja Journal of International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict / Humanitäres Völkerrecht zaprasza do przesyłania zgłoszeń do kolejnego numeru czasopisma, który poświęcony będzie tematyce aktorów niepaństwowych.

Przykładowe tematy artykułów to:

• Non-state actors in international humanitarian law;

• Status of humanitarian actors in international law;

• Non-state actors and the development of international law;

• Non-state actors before national and international courts;

• State responsibility for non-state actors and sharing of responsibility;

• Regional and institutional perspectives on non-state actors in international law;

• Non-state actors in international peace and security – transnational use of force of and against non-state actors.

3. Call for papers: Netherlands Yearbook of International Law

Redakcja Netherlands Yearbook of International Law zaprasza do przesyłania zgłoszeń do kolejnego numeru czasopisma (vol. 52), który poświęcony będzie tematyce „A Greener International Law: International Legal Responses to the Global Environmental Crisis”.

Artykuły mogą odpowiadać m.in. na następujące pytania:

1) What does ‘greening’ mean within particular fields of international law?

2) What developments can be identified, what drives these developments, and who are the principal actors (including – if any – the role of private actors)?

3) How has the greening phenomenon been conceptualized in various fields of international/transnational/regional law?

4) What are (inherent) limitations to the greening of international/transnational/regional law?

5) What further changes are necessary in order to address the global environmental crisis and what is the role of enforcement mechanisms therein?

Osoby zainteresowane publikacją powinny przesłać abstrakt proponowanego artykułu (do 500 słów) oraz krótkie CV do 1 grudnia br. Termin nadsyłania ostatecznej wersji tekstów upływa 29 kwietnia 2022 r.

4. Call for papers: Human Rights & Sports (Lozanna, czerwiec 2022 r.)

W dniu 30 czerwca 2022 r. na Uniwersytecie w Lozannie odbędą się warsztaty poświęcone prawom człowieka i sportowi.

Wystąpienia mogą dotyczyć w szczególności następującej problematyki:

· Athletes as a specific category of human rights beneficiaries

· Instruments developed in international organisations (e.g. Charter on Sport) or by civil society (e.g. the Universal Declaration of Athletes' Rights)

· Gender (e.g. sexism, homophobia, #metoo movement, LGBTQ, androgynous)

· Privacy (e.g. social networks, doping, harassment)

· Equality and non-discrimination (e.g. disability, racism, religion)

· Freedom of religion

· Physical integrity (e.g. ill-treatment)

· Freedom of expression (e.g. art. 50 IOC, activism, black lives matter)

· Social rights (e.g. minimum wage)

· Effectiveness of protection mechanisms (e.g. the business human right approach, independence of the CAS)

Zgłoszenia (abstrakt do 450 słów wraz ze zwięzłą biografią) należy przesyłać do 1 grudnia br.

Planowana jest publikacja pokonferencyjna.
