2. Call for papers: European Yearbook of Constitutional Law

Redakcja European Yearbook of Constitutional Law zaprasza do przesyłania zgłoszeń do kolejnego (vol. 5) numeru czasopisma, który będzie dotyczył problematyki "Constitutional law and the algorithmic state".

Teksty mogą dotyczyć m.in. następujących tematów:

• the effects of digitalisation and new technologies on the structural aspects of states, such as the separation of powers and checks-and-balances;

• the effects of digitalisation and new technologies on fundamental rights, such as (but not limited to) the right to privacy and freedom of expression;

• the impact of the attenuation of the traditional distinction between rulemaking and decision-making due to the rigid, automated application of algorithmic rules on the level of discretionary power of administrative authorities and on the level of deference of (administrative) courts;

• specific (disruptive) technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, the automation of justice, or specific case studies of any of these technologies, and their effects on constitutional law;

• normative counterreactions to face the challenges of digital technology, including digital constitutionalism;

• contributions that more broadly discuss the regulation of technologies and/or regulation by technologies (by-design, law as code).

3. Call for papers: Scholars Workshop: Global Crisis and Global Constitutionalism (Southampton, czerwiec 2022 r.)

W dniach 20-22 czerwca br. na Uniwersytecie w Southampton odbędą się warsztaty pt. "Global Crisis and Global Constitutionalism".

Możliwe tematy wystąpień to np.:

• Contestation of global norms
• Global justice
• Transnational democracy
• Post-colonial critiques of global constitutionalism
• Non-western approaches to global constitutionalism
• The implications of the rise of populist and nationalist movements for global constitutionalism
• Global constitutionalism and cultural diversity
• International courts and contemporary challenges to international courts
• The rule of law from a global perspective
• Contemporary challenges to democracy
• The legitimate role of the judiciary in the global order

4. Call for submissions: Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law

Redakcja Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations zaprasza do przesyłania zgłoszeń do kolejnego numeru czasopisma (vol. 25) poświęconego 75. rocznicy pierwszego posiedzenia MTS.

Teksty mogą dotyczyć m.in. następujących tematów:

• Procedural aspects of the Court such as membership, composition of judges, evidentiary issues, and treaty interpretation of specific provisions within the ICJ Statute.
• Historical analysis of the work/jurisprudence of the Court from past to present.
• Theorising the work of the ICJ from different perspectives of international law.
• Interaction of the ICJ with other courts or judicial bodies.
• Examination of thematic issues adjudicated by the Court such as jurisdictional challenges, environmental law disputes, human-rights claims, use of force, law of the sea, land and maritime delimitation, etc.
• The future of the ICJ as a principal judicial organ of the UN, and its standing as a dispute settlement body for inter-State disputes.
• The scope of the Court’s jurisdiction under particular treaties, such as the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
• The growing importance of provisional measures in the Court’s case-law.
• The advisory jurisdiction: uses and abuses.
• The development of international law by the ICJ.
