Call for papers: Polish Yearbook of International Law, vol. XLV: 2025

Polish Yearbook of International Law is now seeking articles for its next volume which will be published in the Fall of 2026. Authors are invited to submit complete unpublished texts in the areas connected with public and private international law, including European law. Although it is not a formal condition for acceptance, we are specifically interested in the articles that address issues in international and European law relating to Central and Eastern Europe. Authors from the region are strongly encouraged to submit their works. Submissions should not exceed 8.000 words (including footnotes).

Nowy numer Polish Yearbook of International Law (41-2021)

Miło nam poinformować. że ukazał się właśnie nowy (41) numer Polish Yearbook of International Law. Większą część numeru zarezerwowano dla tekstów powstałych po kolokwium z okazji rocznicy zawarcia Układu między PRL a RFN o podstawach normalizacji ich wzajemnych stosunków (1970) oraz Traktatu o ostatecznym uregulowaniu w odniesieniu do Niemiec (1990). W tekstach tych autorzy analizujących szereg istotnych kwestii prawnych jakie pojawiają się w relacjach polsko-niemieckich (w tym i problem reparacji wojennych). W numerze znalazły się również artykuły poświęcone wojnie rosyjsko-ukraińskiej oraz tematyce prawnoczłowieczej (tu na szczególne uwagę zasługuje tekst dr Baranowskiej o legalności pushbacków). CALL FOR PAPERS

Polish Yearbook of International Law, vol. XLII: 2022

The Polish Yearbook of International Law (PYIL) is currently seeking articles for its next volume (XLII), which will be published in September 2023. Authors are invited to submit complete unpublished papers in areas connected with public and private international law, including European law. Although it is not a formal condition for acceptance, we are specifically interested in articles that address issues in international and European law relating to Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Authors from the region are strongly encouraged to submit their works.

A part of the forthcoming volume will be dedicated to the legal problems emerging in the context of the current Russian invasion of Ukraine. Papers may discuss any relevant aspects, especially including those which relate to general international law, international humanitarian law, international economic law, international criminal law and human rights protection. Submissions dealing with other problems that are relevant in the context of the current events are also welcome. Again, PYIL is particularly interested in the insights of researchers from the CEE region.

Submissions should not exceed 10,000 words (including footnotes) but in exceptional cases we may also accept longer works. We assess the manuscripts we receive on a rolling basis.

Call for papers: Polish Yearbook of International Law (vol. XL/2020)

In the late summer of 2021, Polish Yearbook of International Law (PYIL) is planning to publish its jubilee volume (no. XL). In this context, the Editorial Board of PYIL is seeking high-quality, unpublished articles relating to public and private international law as well as EU law.

A part of the forthcoming volume will be dedicated to the scientific legacy of Prof. Janusz Symonides, who sadly passed away in April 2020. Prof. Symonides was a well-known Polish jurist and diplomat, specializing in human rights, the Law of the Sea, protection of cultural heritage, and international relations. He was one of the representatives of Poland during the work on the Convention on the Law of the Sea, an expert on the human dimension of the OSCE, and a conciliator of the Montego Bay Convention. Prof. Symonides was also Director of the Polish Institute of International Affairs and Director of the then Division of Human Rights, Democracy, Peace and Tolerance at UNESCO. PYIL is particularly interested in papers that discuss the ideas that preoccupied Prof. Symonides, analyze his scientific achievements, or deal with other issues relating to his academic and diplomatic work.

PYIL also accepts other texts that fall within the its scope of interest. In this context PYIL is particularly interested in articles that address current issues of public international law and EU law that relate to Central and Eastern Europe. Authors from the region are also strongly encouraged to submit their works.

Po wyroku Trybunału Konstytucyjnego: Kilka uwag na temat zmian do ustawy o IPN-ie

Na tle dyskusji o zmianach do ustawy o Instytucie Pamięci Narodowej - Komisji Ścigania Zbrodni przeciwko Narodowi Polskiemu, które po kryzysie międzynarodowym zostały częściowo wycofane, oraz po ostatnim wyroku Trybunału Konstytucyjnego, w którym stwierdzono niekonstytucyjność niektórych z wprowadzonych zmian, polecamy Państwa lekturze dwugłos naszych redakcyjnych koleżanek, który niedawno ukazał się na łamach Polish Yearbook of International Law. 

Pierwszy artykuł - autorstwa Karoliny Wierczyńskiej - traktuje o samej ustawie, wskazując między innymi na błędy w zakresie przyjętej definicji zbrodni międzynarodowej oraz niezgodność określonych rozwiązań przyjętych w ustawie z zasadą nullum crimen sine lege certa (z artykułem w pełnej wersji można zapoznać się tu). Natomiast drugi artykuł - którego autorką jest Patrycja Grzebyk - wyjaśnia na czym polegają wątpliwości związane z wprowadzonymi zmianami, wskazując w tym kontekście między innymi na użycie sformułowań niezgodnych z prawem międzynarodowym (tekst jest dostępny tu). Oba artykuły oczywiście w języku angielskim.
