1. Call for papers: International Review of the Red Cross

Redakcja International Review of the Red Cross zaprasza do przesyłania zgłoszeń do kolejnego numeru czasopisma, który będzie poświęcony tematyce “Military Perspectives on International Humanitarian Law” i ukaże się zimą 2024 r.

Teksty mogą odpowiadać m.in. na następujące pytania:

1. How do you apply the rules of war in practice in modern armed conflict?

2. What topics deserve further regulation, and what should that regulation look like?

3. How do and should militaries consider and apply human rights law during armed conflict?

4. How do and should militaries review modern and emerging means and methods of warfare in the context of IHL?

5. How can militaries grapple with uncertainty in real-time during armed conflict, while still faithfully applying IHL – including in addressing the threshold of armed conflict and of when IHL applies?

6. To what extent do domestic law and policy influence both the battlefield and compliance with IHL?

2. Call for papers: European Journal of International Law

European Journal of International Law zaprasza do przesyłania tekstów do numeru specjalnego pt. "The Hague Academy: A Centenary of Scholarship".

Artykuły mogą dotyczyć m.in. następujących zagadnień:

• a favourite course or author that has set the tone of or significantly contributed to a field of international law or even to a career;
• a forgotten course that left a lasting impression on the reviewer and should be read more widely;
• a reflection of how a particular field of law or topic has changed over the years through the comparative lens of courses;
• a comment on questions of international law that the Hague Academy has failed to address;
• a reflection on the courses and recurring patterns or topics over the years;
• the role courses and their published volumes have played on the academic discipline or practice of international law;
• thoughts on courses and topics for the next 100 years.

1. Call for papers: Common Interests and Common Spaces: Institutional Approaches to Dispute Settlement (Haga, grudzień 2023 r.)

W dniu 13 grudnia 2023 r. w Hadze odbędą się warsztaty "Common Interests and Common Spaces: Institutional Approaches to Dispute Settlement".

Organizatorzy w szczególności czekają na wystąpienia, które:

• examine judicial as well as quasi-judicial or non-judicial institutional approaches to the settlement of international disputes involving common or shared interests;
• revisit conceptions of the judicial function of international courts as, on the one hand, facilitators of the peaceful resolution of disputes and, on the other, guardians of justice as a public good;
• critically evaluate formal and informal modes of participation in dispute settlement or compliance proceedings involving public interests, or consider questions of legal standing in this context; and/or
• articulate visions for the future of dispute settlement and institutional supervision regarding common interests or spaces, or frame the values which may underlie the creation or effective use of such institutions.

3. Call for papers: Borderlands of Criminal Law Conference

W dniach 20-21 czerwca 2024 r. w Windsorze (Kanada) odbędzie się konferencja pt. "Borderlands of Criminal Law".

Wystąpienia mogą dotyczyć m.in. następujących zagadnień:

• Substantive areas of legal cooperation including, but not limited to, transnational organised crime, terrorism, cybercrime, drug trafficking, trafficking in cultural property, trafficking in endangered species, slavery, money laundering, environmental dumping, corruption, migrant smuggling, weapons smuggling, child sex tourism, transnational intellectual property offences, piracy and maritime safety offences;

• Procedural areas of legal cooperation such as jurisdiction, police cooperation, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, asset recovery, extradition, and other forms of international law enforcement cooperation; and

• General theoretical and doctrinal issues relating to transnational criminal law and justice such as the theory of transnational criminal law, the UN criminal justice system and regional criminal justice systems, and the protection of human rights of perpetrators and victims in transnational criminal law.

Planowana jest publikacja pokonferencyjna.
